Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), highlighted during World Breastfeeding Week 2023, emphasizes skin-to-skin contact and exclusive breastfeeding as vital for improving newborn survival, especially in preterm and low-birth-weight infants. Supported by large-scale trials like ISRCTN, KMC has proven effective in reducing neonatal mortality and promoting long-term health. Despite its benefits, challenges such as limited awareness, cultural barriers, and infrastructure gaps hinder its adoption. Global efforts focus on integrating KMC into routine newborn care through policy advocacy, healthcare training, and community education to ensure widespread implementation and support for breastfeeding and maternal-child bonding.
